Amy Beverland

School of Communication

At Amy Beverland, we believe that educating everyone takes everyone. Thus, parents, teachers, administrators, support staff, and students play a vital role in guiding and keeping the school's mission. All of these individuals and groups are vital to maintaining and fulfilling our goals.

Numerous parents and community members provide strong support to the students in a variety of ways. They work directly with them in the classroom and aid in planning future directions. Technology has been incorporated as a dynamic, well-articulated component at each grade level. It enhances the multi-sensory, multimedia approach to learning and communications.

Students get hands-on experience in the world of broadcasting in the school’s state-of-the-art digital television studio, ABETV. Students are in charge of all areas of production in the TV studio, from anchor to engineer to roving reporter. They gain real-world experience by operating the cameras, writing the scripts, and handling all transitions.

But the TV studio isn’t the only way students learn to communicate. Through print, online communications and video conferencing, Amy Beverland students learn the many ways to convey messages.

What is a Magnet School?

In most Indiana public school systems, students attend the school nearest their home or the one to which they are assigned. Magnet schools offer a unique area of focus and give opportunity for family choice. Each magnet school’s area of focus enhances the core curriculum.
MSD Lawrence Township created a system that allows families to attend their assigned neighborhood magnet school if that is their desire OR apply to attend another magnet school with a different area of focus.
